ERCOT market
Oncor Electric Delivery is the largest transmission and distribution utility in Texas, serving the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex and much of north, central, and west Texas. As a TDSP, Oncor does not sell electricity plans — it delivers the power that retail electric providers supply. If your address is in Oncor territory, you pick a licensed retail provider for the energy itself while Oncor maintains the lines, reads your meter, and restores outages.

FAQ
Oncor is a Texas delivery utility (TDSP) that owns and maintains the electric lines, reads meters, and restores outages across Dallas/Fort Worth and much of north and west Texas.
Choose a retail electric provider and give them your address and start date. They coordinate the connection with Oncor.
Call Oncor's outage line. Oncor owns the lines and restores service. Your retail provider handles billing and your plan.
Oncor delivery charges cover the poles, wires, meters, and outage response. They appear on your bill and are the same no matter which retail provider you choose.
No. Oncor delivers power but does not sell plans. In the competitive ERCOT market you choose a licensed retail electric provider for the energy.
A TDSP (Transmission and Distribution Service Provider) is the regulated utility that owns the poles, wires and meters, reads your meter and restores power after an outage. It does not sell you an electricity plan and its delivery charges are the same whichever retail provider you choose. Your TDSP depends on your service address — in some areas more than one utility serves the same city — so confirm it by ZIP code or call us for a free check.
A retail electric provider (REP) is the licensed company that sells you the electricity itself: it sets the rate per kWh, the contract term and the fees on your plan, and it bills you. In the ERCOT market you can shop and switch between REPs freely, while your TDSP keeps delivering the power, so switching never means new wires, a new meter or a service interruption.
