ERCOT market
In the ERCOT market, your retail electric provider sells you the energy, but your delivery utility — the TDSP — owns the lines, reads the meter, and restores power after an outage. That means when the lights go out, the company to call is Oncor, CenterPoint, AEP Texas, TNMP, or LP&L, depending on your address. Your provider handles billing and your plan, but it does not fix downed wires or restore service.
How it works
Check a recent bill or enter your ZIP with us to confirm which utility delivers power at your address.
Call your TDSP's outage line or use its mobile app. They can confirm whether it is a localized or widespread event.
Downed lines, sparks, or smoke — call 911 and then the utility. Stay far away.

FAQ
Your delivery utility (TDSP): Oncor, CenterPoint, AEP Texas, TNMP, or LP&L, depending on your address. They own the lines and restore service.
Your retail provider sells you energy and handles billing. The delivery utility owns and maintains the wires, so it responds to outages.
Check a recent bill for the delivery company, or enter your ZIP with us and we will confirm your TDSP.
Stay far away, do not touch anything near it, call 911 if there is immediate danger, and then call your TDSP.
No. Switching providers changes only your retailer and rate. Your power continues over the same delivery system, so a switch never causes an outage.
A TDSP (Transmission and Distribution Service Provider) is the regulated utility that owns the poles, wires and meters, reads your meter and restores power after an outage. It does not sell you an electricity plan and its delivery charges are the same whichever retail provider you choose. Your TDSP depends on your service address — in some areas more than one utility serves the same city — so confirm it by ZIP code or call us for a free check.
A retail electric provider (REP) is the licensed company that sells you the electricity itself: it sets the rate per kWh, the contract term and the fees on your plan, and it bills you. In the ERCOT market you can shop and switch between REPs freely, while your TDSP keeps delivering the power, so switching never means new wires, a new meter or a service interruption.
